Rajinikanth’s Raana has been in news every single day and we now know he plays three roles and he will have three divas Deepika, Vidya Balan and Rekha giving him company. The latest news is that the flashback scenes in the movie will involve the Superstar wielding the sword and doing some extra ordinary fights with that.

Rajini is donning triple role in this film which is a historical cum period venture. The budget of this film might cross Rs 100 Crores. There is no connection between Raana and Hara. Only after the release of Raana, Hara will be released.

Enthiran Release Rights in Different Hand

Endhiran has been dubbed in many languages including Hindi. His films in Hindi Hum, Thyagi, Gangva and Sivaji have received tremendous response from the public. Being Asia’s most expensive film, Robot has already caught public attention what with the teasers being screened every five minutes on television. The Hindi rights of the film Robot’ has been reportedly sold for a whopping Rs. 50 cores.

The rights have been sold to Gemini Film Circuit for this record price. Gemini, in return have decided to market it in a smart way instead of releasing it directly. Rajnikanth’s fans seeking divine help for Endhiran’s success

The paper said that more than 100 hardcore fans, aged 14 to 60, many on their knees, climbed the steps of the Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Sholingur, about 120km from Chennai, reports the Star Online.

The fans took more than three hours to climb the 1,305 steps leading to the main temple and to perform special poojas for the success of the film.

Sun TV Network today officially announced Endhiran October 1

In a statement, the production wing of Sun TV Network has confirmed that the mega movie directed by Shankar will see the light of the day on October 1 in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi all over the world.

Sun Pictures may have planned out another strategy to tease with their precious “Endhiran”. The movie, which was scheduled for a September 24 release, is now whispered to be releasing on September 30th. Sun pictures keeps on testing the patience of fans which may either result in a positive way or a very negative one.

Just a few days before, Rajinikanth said that the movie would release on the scheduled date without further delay. Now, here, we get to know whether there is a delay and if so why it is. FICUS acquires ‘Endhiran’ USA Rights

FICUS, the leader in overseas distribution has acquired the USA theatrical rights of both Telugu and Tamil versions of Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Endhiran’.

Acknowledging Sun Pictures for the opportunity given to them, FICUS thank Kalanidhi Maran and Hansraj Saxena for giving them this opportunity to work on their prestigious project ‘Endhiran’.

A large chunk from the Rs. 200 crores of Endhiran’s budget is spent on the effects and animatronics. Before the movie went on floors, director Shankar along with Rajinikant spent two weeks in Los Angeles to prepare the mould for the robot’s body. “The first step was scanning Rajinikant’s entire body to create a prototype. Using this prototype, Hollywood technicians created a robot that everyone said was literally like his double,” says a source from the production house.

Ever since the rushes of the movie were out, it is creating mass hysteria. The promos itself speaking about the gold ‘Endhiran’ is going to spin at the box office. Much awaited “Endhiran” audio released on 31st July and I went in the morning to a nearby music store and to my surprise there was a huge queue waiting to buy the CD. After a long hour’s wait, I finally got it and I was very nervous and anxious like one who was waiting to get his final exam result. Quickly I reached home and heard it in my pc and felt very happy and relieved as I if i have passed in “First class with distinction”.

Rajnikant wishes Robot to spread the same magic as Sholay

Hefty budget or big stars in the movie doesn't mean that movie is a super duper which is the fact well understood by south superstar Rajnikant. On the music launch of Robot some of the biggest names of the entertainment industry gathered like Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Rajnikanth and A.R Rahman.

Rajnikant in his little speech full of wit made everybody laugh and mentioned that this role was first offered to Kamal Hassan and then Shahrukh Khan however he landed up in the role which proves that ''Daane daane pe likha hai khane wale ka Naam'.

Along with some humor he also added that Sholay one of the biggest movie of Indian Cinema reached that status not just because it had big budget, had big stars or contained latest technology however it became so big because of its story line up, acting of the stars and amazing screenplay.

Rajni mentioned that 'Robot' also contains all the qualities of Sholay and has a unique story, along with this it has big budget of Rs. 160 crore and technical excellence.

Director Shankar has made the movie bilingual as 'Robot' in Hindi and 'Endhiran' in Tamil. Aishwarya Rai plays the female lead opposite Rajnikant in both the versions.

Music was launched by Amitabh Bachchan whom Rajnikanth always admires and calls him his inspiration.

Endhiran, the Robot which co-stars Tamil actor Rajinikanth, is a Tamil language action-packed science-fiction flick. Aishwarya plays a woman named Sharmili and Rajnikanth portrays Vaseegaran in the movie that took about two years to film.

The sci-fi film tells the story of Dr. Vaseegaran, a scientist who specializes in robotics. In true fashion, Dr. Vaseegaran creates a robot that looks like a human. He names the robot Chitti and introduces it to other humans, which obviously leads to some very fascinating situations!

After the music launch in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia earlier in August, the album hit the top spot on iTunes' online music album Top Charts! This is the first time in history that a Tamil movie soundtrack hits the iTunes top spot so the Bollywood belle had lots to celebrate at the Mumbai music launch!

Telugu and Kannada Endhiran sold?

Reportedly, the rights of the dubbed Telugu and Kannada versions of superstar Rajinikanth's much-awaited Enthiran (Robot), directed by Shankar, has been sold. Sources now say that Sun Pictures sold the Kananda version for Rs. 9.75 crores and the Telugu version for a whopping Rs. 33 crores. The details about the buyers are still under wraps.

Meanwhile, talking to the media at the music release of Hindi version of Enthiran at JW Marriot on Saturday, superstar Rajinikanth said that Enthiran is the first Indian film of its type and every aspect of it is comparable to the cult Hindi movie Sholay.

"Around Rs. 160 crore has been invested to make the film. It's fantastic; technical excellence is there. Sholay made history not because of the money or budget involved, not because it was a multi-starrer, not because of the technicalities, but because of its subject. Like Sholay, in Robot too, there is an excellent storyline, excellent character sketches. It's science fiction and excellently made," he said.

Endhiran (Robo) Telugu rights have been sold for 27 crores. Surendra (VV Vinayak’s brother), along with another West Godavari distributor L.V.R bought the Endhiran (Robo) theatrical Telugu rights for 27 crores. This price for Endhiran (Robo) Telugu rights of 27 crores is the highest for any dubbing film.

Surendra already paid 12 crores as advance to the Sun Pictures. However, Sun Pictures has sold only the theatrical rights of the Robo Telugu. And they might retain the Satellite rights.

It is reported that audio launch will be a grand affair, the first of its kind in Tamil cinema. The producer of Sun Pictures are planning a grand audio launch in Kula Lumpur, Malaysia on July 31, 2010.

The Oscar winning duo of AR Rahman and Resul Pookutty have jammed for ‘Endhiran’ – Rahman has composed six songs for the film, one of which he has sung himself. Sound designer Pookutty has been handed the final edit of the film and is busy inputting the big action sound effects to polish the film before release. The film’s soundtrack was released on July 31.

The producers of the film have already spent crores on the film but director Shankar is contemplating on a 3D version, the conversion would be done digitally during post production (like in the new Harry Potter film). Shankar’s strategy is to bring audiences to the theater, and keep pirates at bay, in case you didn’t already know, his previous film ‘Jaggubhai’ was widely pirated, and was even available on the internet on the day of the release. The director was shown a 3D demo of the film by a leading special effects company, and was highly impressed by the result.

‘Endhiran’ has already broken a lot of records, AR Rahman is now the highest paid musician in India and Aishwarya Rai is the highest paid Bollywood actress of all time, with an upfront fee of Rs 6 crore. Aishwarya beat out the likes of Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Asin, Trisha Krishnan, Shriya Saran, Priyamani and Nayanthara who were approached to star in the film. Endhiran was filmed in Himachal Pradesh, the US, Vietnam, Brazil, with a song shot at the historic site of the Machu Picchu in Peru! Four hundred students from the Vellore Institute of Technology were used as extras in the film. The fight scenes in the film were choreographed by Yuen Woo-ping, who worked on ‘The Matrix’, the animatronics and puppetry were done by Hollywood’s Stan Winston Studios, the visual effects/CGI were rendered by Industrial Light & Magic. AR Rahman has Completed the Theme Composing for Endhiran

Earlier, a section of the media speculated that the much-awaited audio launch of director’s Shankar’s extravagance Endhiran will be in April. They also said that the Mozart of Madras has finished composing the theme music and the rest is in progress.

“I am going for the last schedule shoot, with which all the talkie portions will be completed. So totally tied up with organizing and preparing for it. Everyone’s question is when is theaudio launch and film release. Regarding the audio launch, the last song is in composing and has to be recorded. After that the mastering has to be done then we will fix the audio launch.”

He adds, “The final song is yet to be recorded and shot. The partly completed third portion, post production time duration has to be finalized and most of the CG works are completed, another 200 complicated CG shots are yet to be completed. Final editing, sound mixing and background score is to be done.”

Rajini says ‘Endhiran’ in July

uperstar Rajinikanth today met the Tamil Nadu chief minister M. Karunanidhi at his residence and expressed thanks for his presence at the engagement ceremony of his daughter yesterday. Superstar’s younger daughter Soundarya was engaged to a city businessman Ashwin Ramkumar in a simple ceremony yesterday at a city hotel. The chief minister was present with his entire family to bless the to-be married couple.

The set for the climax scene, erected behind an entertainment complex on the ECR near Chennai, is reported to have cost around Rs 5 crore. It is definitely the most expensive set put up for a Tamil film. The sequence shot on this expensive set will have Rajinikanth, who plays a scientist, fighting with 100 and more robots which are his look-alikes!

Sabu Cyril has revolutionised the concept of an art director in Indian cinema. Today, he is one of the busiest production designers (as Hollywoodwould call him) in Indian cinema.

Currently, Sabu is the art director for three Bollywood films and Endhiran is his first film in Tamil in five years, after Shankar’s Anniyan.

Says Sabu, “I’m doing more work in Bollywood because the budgets are bigger there which gives you room to experiment. But as far as Endhiran is concerned, it is close to my heart as it is my 100th film as an art director. I’ve been fascinated by the project ever since director Shankar narrated the script. I had originally signed up for the project 10 years ago, when Shankar was planning to do it with Kamal Haasan.

He says,”I am working with Aishwarya on Action Replay and Enthiran. Even though Enthiran is my first film with Ash, I have known her for about eight years. I have done her make-up for her ads.

She has a fantastic face. She’s very professional and allows you to do anything with her face. She’s very open. She is one of the few actresses who has an international as well as an Indian look. She’s like a princess — she looks stunning even in minimum make-up. She knows how to carry herself well.

She is blessed with beautiful coloured eyes, eyebrows and a great pout — they look simple yet glamourous.

We have tried 57 costumes and different looks for her in Enthiran. Her tribal look is very glamourous. She has to look like a Mexican tribal. Manish Malhotra has styled the film and done an awesome job.”

VELLORE: Here is an interesting snippet for the fans of Superstar Rajnikanth on his forthcoming movie Endiran. While the mega movie remains a closed book, as the makers are keeping the production a guarded secret, interesting incidences connected with the movie do keep the fans thrilled.

Endiran somehow seems to be having links with Vellore and it may be recalled that some sequences of this Rajnikanth-Aishwarya starrer were shot in the picturesque campus of the VIT University here in January this year. Now a stunt artist from here has worked for the movie recently to coach the heroine in martial arts.

‘It was a memorable experience’ recalled ‘Karate’ Ramesh, who runs Japan Shito-Ryu karate school here for over 30 years, which is affiliated to the World Karate Federation

First things first. On behalf of the millions of Rajni fans across the globe we at Behindwoods salute the Superstar for bringing so much excitement and joy into our otherwise mundane lives. As it has been said in one of the James Bond movies, 'No one does it like you do. No one does it half as good as you'. That is why you are the Superstar, that is why you reign in our hearts and that is why no one, absolutely no one can take the place that you have made your own. Ore chandhiran, ore suriyan, ore Superstar.

It is not easy to write the review of a movie that features the Superstar. Forgive me if I end up reviewing the Superstar and not the movie on the whole, it’s just that his screen persona is electrifying enough to make my brain cells go numb.

Sivaji
The man was chosen by destiny to give us moments of unmatched joy and that is what he does in Sivaji, enthrall. He exudes charisma in each frame. Whether he talks, flips sunglasses or walks nonchalantly.
Let’s get it straight, Sivaji is a Rajni film directed by Shankar and not a Shankar film starring Rajni; which one do you prefer? One thing for sure, if you prefer the latter you are surely in the minority. The movie has enough and more for people who think that Rajni was at his best in Thillu Mullu and also for those who think that nothing can beat Baasha. Now you may be getting a feel of what the movie is like and as I had predicted earlier about my own weakness for the Superstar phenomenon, I haven’t yet ventured into any aspect of the movie other than Rajni.

The movie has everything that the trailers had promised. The fun, the lover, the terror and the boss.
Let’s put it this way, you get the first two in the first half and the last two in the second half. There is ample fun for everyone who is looking for some. Vivek and Rajni combine to provide some very hilarious moments.
Vivek must come in for special mention for his performance, especially the scene where he very candidly points out about every spring chicken of the industry trying to become the Superstar overnight, aping his mannerism (watch the movie for the real fun). Shriya comes and goes in the songs where one must say she looks gorgeous, but there is a very thin line between glamour and vulgarity and here the lines seem to have blurred. The high points of the first half however must be the songs. Balleilakka simply rocks; theaters are going to reverberate with fans, every time this song unfolds on screen. Nayanthara fits the song to perfection – looking very beautiful. The STYLE song, in praise of the Superstar’s inimitable element of style has been shot in a way that is completely novel to Tamil cinema. The choreographers – Brindha and Prabhu Deva respectively have done a great job. The plot of the movie thickens as we get closer to the interval and it is only in the second half that Rajni really unleashes on screen; it’s action time.

Sivaji
The second half is all about Rajni and the villains, Suman being the lead antagonist. He has managed to look every inch the ‘wolf in a sheepskin’ kind of character. Dressed in white and white, sporting a wide smile, this might just become the new stereotype look of the Tamil villain for some time to come. Villains cannot get more handsome. The script moves at an express rate here, with twists and turns galore. Not at one point does the tempo of the movie drop. In between, there are some very interesting comic interludes involving Solomon Pappaiah (you are bound to laugh every time he appears on screen) and a few other comic scenes to offer some relief from the tense main plot.
Sivaji
Shankar has taken all the cares to make the script as unpredictable as possible and that has worked, as the biggest twist of the movie fell like a thunderbolt on the audience; you don’t see such things normally in a Rajni movie. The climax (of course you know who had the last laugh) is easily the best and the most exciting part of the movie.

Though defying superhuman powers, the fights choreographed by Peter Heinz (we are intentionally calling the fights choreographed, you have to see the movie to understand) and the extremely lavish sets created by Thotta Tharani stand out. Camera work of K.V.Anand is first rate through out, Antony’s editing is crisp and Sujatha’s dialogues are rock solid.
A.R.Rahman’s songs are being lapped up by the audience with background score adding substance to the narration. Shankar, the architect of the product should be applauded for raising the bench mark of a Rajini movie. Future directors might find it even more challenging to script the Superstar in the future.

It’s an absolute celebration of one man who can make millions feel good about life just by walking in elegance, by stroking his hair, or just by being there on screen. It is a celebration of the unmatched STYLE of our SUPERSTAR; come join the festival and revel.

Final Verdict: Feel free to be thoroughly entertained.

RAJNIKANTH ENTRY TO THE FILM INDUSTRY:

Rajnikanth was born on December 12 1949 in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. He was the fourth child to his parents, Rambhai and Ramoji Rao.His original name was Sivaji Rao Gaekwad. He lost his mother at the age of five. He had his schooling at the Acharya Patasala in Bangalore and then at the Vivekananda Balak Sangh, a unit of the Ramakrishna Mission. His mother tongue is Marathi, though he has not done any films in it.Before starting his career in the film industry, he had to take up all sorts of odd jobs. He served as a bus conductor for Karnataka state transport corporation in Bangalore. It was during this time that he nurtured his acting interests by performing in various stage plays.

ACTING CAREER:

A friend helped him to join the Madras Film institute where Rajnikanth completed basic acting course in 1974 at the age of 25.He started his acting career in Kannada in the movie Kathaa Sangama, directed by Puttanna Kanagal, in 1976.In Tamil, he started with playing supporting roles, beginning as a cancer patient in Apoorva Raagangal (1975), directed by K. Balachander, who assigned him his stage name Rajnikanth. After several villainous roles, his first positive role was Bhuvana Oru Kelvikkuri (1979), in which Rajnikanth played a
failed lover in the first half and a do-gooder in the second.

The second phase of his life started with K Balaji’s Billa, a superhit disproving the canard spread by detractors that Rajnikant was “finished”. He was accepted as a full-fledged hero. Billa was followed by a row of hits like Pokkiri Raja, Thanikkattu Raja, Naan Mahaan Alla and the all-important Moondru Mugham, in which Rajni essayed a triple role. Even two decades after its release, the last continues to be a box-office draw and Rajni’s fans can never tire of the thalaivar’s verbal clash with villain Senthamarai. K Balachander’s first home production, Nettrikkam proved to be yet another milestone in Rajni’s career.As an actor, Rajnikant’s greatest asset, apart from his style is his sense of humour and comic timing. Like Amitabh Bachchan is popular for his drunken soliloquies, Rajnikant is famous for his comic encounters with snakes, repeated umpteen times.

In the early 80s, Rajnikant made a foray into Bollywood with Andhaa Kanoon, a superhit. But Rajnikant could not concentrate on Hindi films because he was already safely ensconced down South. He still made a few films in Hindi, to mention specially Chaalbaaz which had Sridevi in a dual role.After several films in the Eighties, he played a Hindu saint in his 100th movie, Sri Raghavendra. Many others followed, among them dramas, comedies and, at the end of the eighties, action-oriented family entertainers like Velaikkaran and Manidhan.Annamalai, which released in 1992, was the first Rajini film to gross almost Rs. 100 million at the box office.A new trend where his films’ collections exceed normal regional film expectations started off with Basha, followed by Annamalai, Arunachalam, Ejaman, Muthu and Padayappa. It’s now an accepted fact that only a Rajnikant film can break records set by his own films.Apart from Tamil, Rajnikanth has acted in over 160 movies, including Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi and Bengali. He has also acted in a Hollywood movie Bloodstone in 1988.

Rajnikanth was awarded the Padma Bhushan award in the year 2000 and was rated as one of the most influential persons in South Asia by Asia week. Rajnikanth has won the Filmfare Best Actor Award, South on 2 occasions. He is the highest paid actor in India and the second
